AIDS in Africa and the Cameroon America AIDS Alliance The Cameroon America AIDS Alliance (CAAA) is working with local partners in Cameroon, Africa, to help stem the spread of HIV/AIDS and alleviate the physical and psychological devastation of the disease. Using bold, innovative programs, CAAA is helping individuals and organizations better understand and respond to the AIDS epidemic through prevention education, testing, treatment, counseling, and promotion of healthy lifestyles. Seeking to be a beacon of light and hope, CAAA is committed to operating a highly effective programmatic model that, in time, will be replicated in other African nations in the battle against HIV/AIDS.AIDS in Africa and What We Do CAAA takes a unique two-pronged approach in addressing this challenge, and it has proven effective: Education: CAAA sponsors educational conferences to empower community leaders and influential local pastors, those who are on the front lines in the battle against AIDS in Africa. During the four-day conferences, these leaders learn how they can educate and influence others about HIV/AIDS, how to prevent the spread of the virus and the importance of seeking treatment in a timely manner. Since CAAA's formal launch on World AIDS Day in 2006, hundreds of leaders from throughout Cameroon have attended these conferences before returning to their communities to spread the word about HIV/AIDS prevention and treatment. The program has proven so effective that CAAA has been invited by the All Africa Conference of Churches to work with church leaders across Africa to provide HIV/AIDS training. Medical Assistance: CAAA provides testing for HIV/AIDS and delivers the latest treatment protocols for patients with the virus at two health clinics in Cameroon. Our HIV/AIDS healthcare providers are professionals with years of experience in the field who work as volunteers , and they are training local health care providers on use of the latest equipment and technology. The statistics about AIDS in Africa are staggering. While the challenges are immense and many people may believe the situation hopeless, CAAA is experiencing a different reality - that the spread of the virus throughout Africa can be stemmed and eventually eradicated. And that a new spirit of health, hope and productivity can flourish. The work CAAA is carrying out in Cameroon has significantly impacted local communities, eliciting positive news coverage locally and internationally. The coverage and publicity of CAAA's work is one more source of inspiration and motivation to our donors and volunteers that are contributing to CAAA's work in combating HIV/AIDS in Africa." All donations to CAAA are dispersed directly to our prevention and treatment programs and are not constrained by the local government.
